the reason we come...

Yesterday, a number of kids came to play at our house.  We have games and puzzles and balls of all kinds to entice them.  And mostly it works!  We are called the official "grandparents" for iThemba because we come to spoil the children and then send them back to their parents.  But the parents have told us that when we are here, they ask the kids regularly, "Don't you want to go play at Uncle Paul and Aunty Lauren's?"

We brought over our old GeoSafari set from when the kids were homeschooled.  It is an electronic matching game- we have from easy to hard sets of sports questions, to nature questions, to geography questions which is why I originally got the game.  The kids love it and line up to take turns.  Then there is the puzzle table which I love.  After a bit yesterday, we all were outside throwing balls and watching the neighbor boys (twin 10 yo boys) do skits that they had made up.  Two of the new children were here so it was fun to get to know them a bit more.

I would like to introduce you to Marcus.  He is the newest member of the newest house- Anna House.  He is 11 - going on 12 - as he says as he is looking over my shoulder.  He is a sports lover and is very quick and nimble with all of the balls.  Here is his intro form the web site:

Marcus is the newest member of Anna House. He is 11 years old and is in Grade 6 at Hillcrest Primary School. He enjoys cricket, soccer and rugby. He hopes to join a sports club in the Hillcrest area soon. He is very excited about his new home and he has already formed a bond with his siblings. Marcus is a humble and polite young man and has a lovely big smile.

He is outgoing and very friendly and fits easily into the iThemba model.  He has only been here since October. He came from a children's home where we have gotten a few of our kids. We are enjoying getting to know him.

(I am struggling with the slow internet to get pictures posted.  Will keep trying!)
