along the garden route to Knysna

Just rounding the "Heads" where the river meets the Indian Ocean

picture of Thesen Island where the developers
carved out canals so each home would have access
to the water.  The river makes a lagoon which passes
through the Heads to the ocean.

Paul and me, Judy and Danie at our last night's dinner
After our wine walk, we drove with Danie and Judy along the garden route, the southern most route along the bottom of South Africa.  Again, such beauty with mountains in the background and many farms.  The area is known for fynbos, a type of vegetation most like what we would call scrub.  Among the fynbos family is the protea, the national flower.
